What the hell is You Beach?

You Beach is a simple one or two player game. It is meant to be a fun quick and dirty game to enable you (and a friend/enemy if you so choose) to kill a few minutes in a fun way.

I am pretty sure you are not an artist! Who did the graphics?

It's true, I am not. The graphics were made by Ilias Sounas, an excellent graphics artist, animator etc. and a very good friend. You can find him and his work by clicking here

How do I play?

Each player controls a small dude on either side of the screen. You can make your little dude move left, right or jump. The purpose of the game is to hit the (gigantic, I know) ball in such a way that it touches the opponents half. You can hit the ball up to 3 times before it goes over the net. In case the ball hits the ground in your half or you touch the ball more than 4 times, the opponent will get a point. Of course the same goes for the other player.

Yes but HOW do I play?

Sigh. First download the installer from here. Then install and run it. Change any options you might want to change from the menu and start the game.
You can use either the keyboard (keys A,D,W for Player 1 and the arrow keys for Player 2) or joystick(s) to control the player(s). You can choose your controller(s) in the options.

Cool! Are there any other options?

There are some other fun options included. Try changing the CPU difficulty, the net height and the ball weight for different game styles.

What was used to write this game?

The game was written in C++ using Bloodshed's DevCPP for Windows(excellent opensource frontend for opensource MinGW) and SDL with OpenGL for Graphics. So everything is open and free. How nice.

Where is the source code?

The source code is not available(yet). I might release it later on if there is demand.

Why are you doing this?

For fun. Games are fun, game developing is fun.
